#1. You can Inflate using a Hairdryer
Do you know one funny thing!
The hair drier in your room is an air pump!
If you didn’t see a pump, use your hairdryer in this manner. Start it, then, hold it against the valve of your air mattress so that it can fill air into it. The hairdryer won’t fit into the valve of the airbed, so this will make the process slow, but yet you will make it.
But make sure the air is not hot air because most air mattresses are of plastic or vinyl make. Therefore they can deform or melt if you use hot air to inflate them sometimes.
#2. Using a shop Vacuum Cleaner or any other type of Vacuum Cleaner
You can inflate your airbed using a shop vacuum, vacuum cleaner or any machine that can blow air into something.
For instance, most vacuum cleaners have a blowing unit and a sucking unit. The blow unit will fill your air mattress to its full capacity without much stress. You can still use tools like leaf or snow blowers since their function is to blow air. You will nozzle or blow up the valve or the air hole and blow in air to inflate your mattress.
#3. Use a Tire Pump or a Bike Pump
You might not know that a bicycle pump, tire as well as a bike pump can help you in a time of need to inflate your air bed. You may be overlooking the little pump in your toolbox while crying about an air mattress pump. From today, worry no more!
If you don’t want to carry a bulky load when you are riding to a place of rest, you should not disturb yourself if you have a bike or a tire pump. You can use it to pump air into your air mattress to a comfortable height. Use an adapter nozzle that can match with it or increase the existing vent with additional material. This material will widen it and make it a suitable pump for your air mattress.
A pump nozzle with a tight seal around it may prove tricky!
So beware of the type of nozzle your pump has since it will help you when you are stranded.
#4. Using a Garbage Bag
Do you know that a garbage bag can do the work of an air pump?
Most of you don’t know that. You can inflate a mattress with a plastic bin bag by following these steps; open the bin bag and swing it (up and down) till it gets enough air in it. Trap the air inside by gathering up the open side of the bag. Hold the open end close to the hole for inflating your mattress and push it inside the bed.
After this, you press or squeeze the garbage bag to transfer the air from the bin bag to the mattress. You can quickly do it by lying slowly on the garbage bag. You will repeat this action until you achieve the desired height. Buy heavy-duty garbage bag so that you will receive the satisfaction you deserve. Weak bags can’t inflate to your satisfaction. They are vulnerable to popping when a heavy object is on it
#5. Inflation using your breath
Let’s assume that all these methods failed you. What will you do?
That is when the old-fashioned way will apply. You will find out then that you are also a blowing machine!
You can take a deep breath and try blowing air into the mattress. Please before you do that, use sanitizer or soap to clean the air hole so that it will be neat for your mouth not to contact germs, then put your mouth against the hole and exhale.
As your mouth is on the hole of the airbed, and you are blowing air into the bed, it will start rising.
Don’t expect fast filling if you don’t have enough strength to blow it up at a glance!
For an air mattress without a one-way valve, there is the need to keep your mouth close to the air hole, and then you close your throat so that air will not escape between breaths. Make sure you breathe through your nose and not your mouth to fill the lungs.
